KAY GIBSON

1911 - 2007

Katherina Eva Gibson of Bow Island, beloved wife of the late Eugene Gibson, entered her eternal home on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the age of 95 years.
Kay leaves to cherish her memory, her only daughter Louise (Bill) Wutzke and family including their daughter Lynn Knapik, Lynn’s children Michael, Leanne, Lisa, Sarah and the children’s father Doug Knapik; their son Bruce (Cheryl) Wutzke and their children Eric and Becky all of Bow Island. Kay is also survived by her daughter-in-law Jeni Gibson of Taber and her children Darlene Westhora, Terry and Lance Yuhas and their families.
She was predeceased by her parents Elizabeth & Clarence Ditto; husband Eugene in August 1996; son Harold in November 1996; three sisters Mae McHattie, Mabel McIlvride and Laura Nesbitt.
Kay was born September 24, 1911 in Nanton. She married Eugene on October 8, 1930 and they farmed the original Gibson Homestead in the Conquerville area. They retired to Bow Island in 1971. Kay was active in the Woman’s Institute since 1948 and enjoyed serving with the United Church Women, the Hospital Auxiliary, and taking part in the activities of the Golden Age Centre. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, crocheting and growing flowers; she won many red ribbons for her crafts.
Since 2005, Kay has been a resident at the Pleasant View Lodge and enjoyed the fellowship and wonderful care. She will be lovingly remembered for her gracious ways, beautiful smile and always positive attitude. Kay was “a real lady”!
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 139 - 2 Avenue West, Bow Island on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Sandra McMillan officiating. Interment to follow at the Bow Island Cemetery.
