CORNIE BRAUN

1941 - 2011

Cornelius Braun, beloved husband of Mary Braun of Barnwell, passed away peacefully into the presence of his heavenly father in Taber on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the age of 70 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber, on Sunday, April 17, 2011 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Evangelical Free Church, 5431 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Harry Unger officiating. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Besides his loving wife Mary, Cornie is survived by their seven children and grandchildren, Ken (Ramona) Braun of Barnwell and children Neil, Ethan, Jessie, Kyle and Brett; George (Mandi) Braun of Lethbridge and children Austin, Alyssa, Thea and Bethany; James Braun of Barnwell; Sue (Kevin) Loewen of Taber and children Devan and Dominic; Kathy (Todd) DeBona of Taber and children Jesse and his son Caidyn, Tiffanni, Darian and Shaylee; Lisa (Mike) Johnston of Barnwell and children Katie and Fizzy; Dave Braun of Taber. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Jake Braun, Tina (Bob) Griffith, George (Darlene) Braun, Peter Braun, Daniel Braun and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Gerhard & Helena Braun, sister Lena Braun, brother Johan Braun, sister-in-law Susan Regier and Mary’s parents Cornelius & Helena Regier.
Cornie was born January 14, 1941 in Warman, Saskatchewan where he also received his schooling. In 1960, the family moved to Taber where he met and married his sweetheart, Mary Regier. They were blessed with seven children, seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Cornie was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of strong work ethic and worked hard his entire life, until his retirement in 2006. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
