It is with deep sadness we announce that our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Darius John Hofer, passed away peacefully in Taber on Friday, March 4, 2011 at the age of 67 years.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Cameron Farms Colony, Taber on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. Burial to follow at the Cameron Farms Cemetery.
Besides his loving wife Clara he is survived by his children Rosanna (Sam) Walter of Turin Colony, Jacob (Dorothy) Hofer of CopperField Farms, Rachel (Jake) Hofer of Scotford Colony, Pete (Rachel) Hofer of CopperField Farms, Martha (Ken) Hofer of CopperField Farms, Kevin, Katie and Leah all of CopperField Farms as well as fourteen grandchildren. Also left to mourn his passing are his siblings Jake (Susie) Hofer of Cameron Farms, John (Marie) Hofer of Cameron Farms, Sam (Anne) Hofer of CopperField Farms, Sara (Sam) Hofer of Surprise Creek Colony, Katie Walter of Turin Colony, Anne (Gideon) of East Cardston Colony, Marie (Eli) Hofer of North Harlem Colony, Martha (Chris) Hofer of Enchant Colony and Susanna (Eli) Walter of Turin Colony; sister-in-law P. Betty of CopperField Farms and her children as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Laura Hofer; parents Jacob & Katie Hofer; brother Paul; brother-in-law Jake Walter.
Darius was born in Fort Macleod on March 29, 1943 to Jacob and Katie Hofer. After spending his youth and teen years there, he moved and helped establish Cameron Farms Colony, near Turin in 1961. He was elected financial manager of Cameron Farms in 1995 and with God’s blessings, served his community in a selfless manner, with a special heart for the fatherless. His kind and generous heart and deeds of caring touched many lives and will be remembered. Darius you will be sorely missed. May your soul rest in Peace.
