Josephine is also survived by her brother Leonard (Laurie) Kerkhoff of Osoyoos, sisters-in-law Rose Tallman of Taber, Bula Kerkhoff of Taber and Larine Kerkhoff of Lethbridge, Margaret Slinn of Vancouver as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Julia Kerkhoff; brothers Lawrence, Art, Bernard, Ted and Everett Kerkhoff; brothers-in-law Keith Tallman, Gus, Guido and Silvio Bonetti; sisters-in-law Pat Kerkhoff, Eleanor Kerkhoff, Stella Bonetti, Phyllis Bonetti, “Budgie” Bonetti and by a nephew Louie Bonetti.
She was born January 1, 1919 in Taber. She married James Bonette on October 1, 1941 and they resided in Purple Springs for the next four years. They then moved to Vauxhall to manage the Vauxhall Hotel & Bar. After only a year, Josephine and Jim purchased the farm north east of Taber.
Josephine was a longtime and devoted member of the CWL. In her earlier years she played piano at church weddings, funerals, masses and any other event she was needed. She was a perfectionist in everything she did. From cooking for the thrashing crews to preparing Christmas dinners; making a sandwich for lunch and most recently providing baking for the cattle show crew, her meals were always the best. Her house was never messy, her clothes were always neat and tidy, everything was always perfect.
She had a passion for growing flowers, having the most colorful deck in the summertime but her number one devotion was her family, she was always there no matter who or what someone needed. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all she loved so dear.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Josephine’s name may be made directly to the Taber & District Health Foundation (Palliative Care Unit), 4326 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N9 or to St. Augustine’s Catholic Women’s League, in care of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1T4.
