FRANK HECK

1923 - 2010

Frank Heck, beloved husband of the late Vale Heck, passed away peacefully at home in Bow Island on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the age of 87 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 2:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Fred Monk Celebrant. A private family burial will be held at the Foremost Cemetery.
Frank is survived by five children Linda Hougen of Foremost and her three children Gale (Darcy) Huisman and children Kyle, Eric & Jaiden, Mark Hougen and Tracy (Greg) Seefried and children Adam & Jenna; Faye (Ray) Taylor of Lethbridge and their two children Tara Taylor and her children Danika & Brayden and Darren Taylor (Kim); Pete (Laura) Heck of Saskatoon; Scott (Irene) Heck of Bow Island and their children Brent and Jordan; Jackie (Darren) Wilson of Bow Island and their children Jessi and Josh. He is also survived by four siblings, John (Jean) Heck of Edmonton, Anton Heck of Lethbridge; Florence (George) Thacker of Bow Island, Marjorie Ross of Lethbridge and by numerous nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by a sister-in-law Loaine Ell of Taber and the entire Volk family.
Frank was predeceased by his wife Vale Heck in 2005 and a grandson Doug Wilson in 2006; son-in-law Charlie Hougen, sister-in-law Helen Heck and brother-in-law Jack Ross.
Frank was born on February 27, 1923 in Prelate, Saskatchewan. In 1926, his family settled south of Burdett.
Frank contracted in construction for Bill Macleod of Traverse for about four years before purchasing the company. During these years, he met Ila Vale Liddle and they were married on June 26, 1946.
Frank later worked for the Burdett Board for a few years before taking the position of Dirt Foreman (and later as supervisor) with the County of 40 Mile. Following his retirement, he served on the board of the Bow Island Lodge and also as a member of the hospital board.
Frank enjoyed immensely watching his grandchildren play hockey, baseball, basketball, badminton, volleyball, track & field or whatever they chose to do. He followed them everywhere. His grandchildren were so important to him.
