Josephine was born in Barons on March 9, 1924. As a child she was affected by Polio which she struggled with her entire life. Between the ages of 11 and 19, she spent a great deal of time at the Children’s Hospital in Calgary. During this period, she underwent two spinal fusions all while completing her high school education. Josephine later attended normal school and spent some time teaching. Her condition eventually led to the end of her teaching career before working for Greyhound and Marshall Wells in Calgary. After moving to Lethbridge, Josephine worked in an office for a hardware company. During this time, she met Walter and they were married September 15, 1951.
Josephine served as a teacher in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many other assignments. In 1984, she began water colour painting. She loved to paint and had some award winning paintings that she had shown in both Lethbridge and Edmonton. In 1990 Josephine wrote a family history book which she had printed. In spite of her medical condition, including two further surgeries which prevented her from having mobility in her spinal area, Josephine lived a full life. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
