EWEN MACKENZIE
1942 - 2010
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ewen Robert MacKenzie announce his passing after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the age of 68 years.
The Funeral Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway’s Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend P.H. Burrill of the United Church of Canada officiating.
The Burial Service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden, one kilometre north of 64 Avenue on 50 Street, Taber on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Sandra Riddell of the Knox United Church in Taber officiating.
Ewen is survived by three sisters Agnes (Joe) Chrumka of Vancouver, Katherine (George) Becker of Okotoks and Sandra (Barry) Kinniburgh of Taber; sister-in-law Bernice Mackenzie of Brooks and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers Alister MacKenzie, Gordon MacKenzie and a nephew Robert MacKenzie.
Ewen was born in Taber April 4, 1942, the son of Ewen & Catherine MacKenzie. He was employed with Canada Safeway for forty three years before retiring in 2002. He will be fondly remembered by his “Safeway family” who meant so much to him. Ewen was active in numerous sports; a hockey player, coach and an avid golfer. He will be forever remembered as a loving brother and a favourite uncle.
