GEORGE WARREN

1924 - 2010

George Newton Warren of Grassy Lake, beloved husband of the late Vera Warren, passed away in Taber on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the age of 86 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church, 5120 - 44 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Wil Stonehill officiating.
The Burial Service will be held at the Prairieview Cemetery, Grassy Lake on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 9:00 A.M.
George is survived by his son Verle (Anna Marie) Warren of Grassy Lake, grandson Stacey (Heather) Warren of Calgary and their children Christopher & Caitlyn and granddaughter Heather (Rod) Nielsen of Regina and her son Brantly Bose. He is also survived by his sister Mary Turnbull of Taber, sister-in-law Dora Warren of Bow Island and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Vera Warren, brother Donald Warren and brother-in-law Wallace “Buck” Turnbull.
George was born to Frank & Stella (nee Strople) Warren on August 23, 1924 in Purple Springs. In the early 1940’s, while working at the Howard Flickinger farm south of Grassy Lake, George met Vera Flickinger and they married in 1943. George continued to farm while working for Galvin’s Store in Grassy Lake and in 1973 began working for SMRID where he remained until his retirement in 1990. George enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading Louis Lamour books but most of all he loved spending time with his family and treasured get togethers for dinner. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
