BOB PATERSON
1931 - 2010
Robert Mackie Paterson, passed away at the Taber Hospital, with family at his side, on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at the age of 78 years.
Robert is survived by his wife Maureen (nee Wills) and their children: Jerry Paterson of Stephenville, Texas, Tom (Janine nee Fletcher) Paterson of Taber, Cathy (Ken) Gejdos of Lethbridge and Heather Paterson (Arny Holcek) of Taber. He also survived by his grandchildren Joanne (Gary) Mahura, Julie (Jeff) Craddock, Jodi, Jordan and Jennifer Paterson, Candis Derksen, Stacy (Darren) Peleskey, Daina Paterson, Cody & Ashley Gejdos, Kim, Brad, Liam, Alexzan & Macie Holcek. He will be missed by his great grandchildren Ryan & BJ Duffin, Blake & Keltie Mahura, Shaelen & Shamus Craddock; his sister Sheila Muth and her children Rob (Jill), Neil (Catherine), Mark (Tessa) and Allison (Tony) and their families. Robert also leaves behind his Wills family: Sharon (Orval) Shockey, Louise Krchnak, Priscilla Wills, Shelby Macleod, Darcy (Laura) Wills, and Cecilie (Duncan) Fleming and numerous nieces and nephews as well as the Okomoto family, Mitzi Ishida, Mary Saruwatari and their families.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Louisa; brother-in-law Dr. Harvey Muth; Maureen's parents Tuckey & Mabel Wills; brothers-in-law Blair Wills, Bruce Wills and Len Krchnak and grandson Ryan Holcek.
Robert was born in Taber October 7, 1931. He loved trucks and rodeo and had the best of both; when he had the opportunity to haul the Calgary Stampede Ranch bucking horses for twenty one years. One of Robert’s fondest memories was trailing bucking horses with several local Taber cowboys from rodeo to rodeo for Tuckey Wills & Gordon Hall. Robert was a story teller. He will be remembered for his sense of humour and his practical jokes. Robert was a tease, and many a nickname was bestowed by Robert.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, April 15, 2010 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. A brief service will begin at 7:00 P.M. with Reverend Sandra Riddell of the Knox United Church in Taber, officiating.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Taber Community Centre, 4720 - 50 Street, Taber on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 2:00 P.M.
