Gladys Anna Addy, beloved wife of the late Tom Addy, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, December 28, 2009 at the age of 75 years.
Gladys is survived by her children Harold (Cheryl) Addy of Taber, Heather (Doug) Kunz of Lethbridge, Holly (Richard) Eaves of Coaldale and Trevor (Pauline) Addy of Calgary; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Margaret Webb and Ruth (Kay) Holman; two brothers Norman (Gerry) Frasch, Elmer (June) Frasch and by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by Tom, her loving husband of fifty seven years; two sons, Greg and Todd; her parents William & Jeannie Margaret Frasch; a sister Phyllis Anderson; two brothers Robert Frasch, Joseph Frasch and a brother-in-law Albert Webb.
Gladys was born March 23, 1934 in Surprise, Saskatchewan to William & Jeannie Margaret Frasch. Gladys later moved to Taber where she met and married the love of her life, Tom Addy. Together they farmed for 55 years. Their last two years were spent in Lethbridge at the Alberta Rose Lodge were they resided together until Tom’s passing on November 18, 2009 and now Gladys, just a few short weeks later.
Gladys belonged to the Eastern Star, Order of the Royal Purple and was also a very active Bridge player for several years. She was a kind, generous and caring person and her home was always open to feed anyone who stopped by. She also had many talents such as sewing, gardening and did a wide variety of crafts which we all got to share.
Gladys had a dog kennel called Elmtree Kennels in which she bred, trained and showed dogs. She also groomed and boarded dogs. This was one of her many passions. Another passion was bowling. She belonged to the ladies league and mixed league and also coached the youth group. Mom and dad bowled both in Taber and in the Lethbridge leagues. She had a wall full of plaques that she had won along with several trophies and ribbons. With her husband and their excellent skills in bowling, they were able to afford many trips to places such as Florida, Ontario, Newfoundland and Vancouver.
We will miss our mom and grandmother but take comfort in knowing that she is at rest and is with her husband and sons.
