LILLIAN BROOKS
1922 - 2008
Lillian Theresa Brooks (nee Hughes), beloved wife of the late Percy Brooks, passed away peacefully in Taber on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the age of 85 years.
Lillian was born on the family farm in Innisfail, Alberta on June 23, 1922 to Ernest and Annie Hughes. She took her schooling in a one room school house in Innisfail, having to leave after grade 8 to help out at home since her mother had passed away.
She married Percival Brooks on September 8, 1944 in Taber, Alberta. She and husband Percy and family resided in Taber, Pincher Creek and Bow Island where he was employed in the grocery store business, then finally to Taber where she has resided since.
Lillian loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, fishing, cooking and crossword puzzles.
She was predeceased by her husband Percy on December 28, 1981, her parents Ernest and Annie Hughes and her sisters Agnes Plested, Elizabeth Potter and Pearl Plested.
Lillian is survived by her children; Barbara Topilko of Taber, Mary Lou Brooks of Bassano, James Brooks of Taber and Emily Brooks of Vancouver; grandchildren Colin Brooks of Taber, Treena Brooks and finance Derek McGowan of Bassano, Joseph Topilko and Amanda Topilko of Taber; brother Walter (Velma) Hughes of Innisfail and nephew Gordon (Beverly) Brooks of Edmonton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Mariusz Sztuk SDS officiating. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
