ELIZABETH GOERZEN
1914 - 2009
On October 26, 2009, the Lord welcomed home his daughter Elizabeth in her 95th year.
Elizabeth was born March 9, 1914 in Hague, Saskatchewan to Peter and Elizabeth Fehr and was blessed to have a second mother, Sarah Fehr. She was married March 11, 1934 to Peter Goerzen. They were blessed with thirteen children.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Peter, daughter Sarah, son Rueben and daughter-in-law Jocelyn (John), brothers Peter Fehr, Isaac Fehr, William Fehr, David Fehr, Jacob Fehr, John Fehr, Herman Fehr and sisters Sarah Derksen, Mary Olfert and Helen Olfert as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
Elizabeth is survived by eleven children, Dave (Mary) of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Peter (Helen) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Susan (Ernie) of Didsbury, Henry (Helen) of Laird, Saskatchewan, Willie (Barb) of Brooks, George(Shelley) of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Jake (Anne) of Calgary, Phillip (Anne) of Taber, Herman (Bernice) of Abbotsford, British Columbia, John (Charito) of Calgary, Elmer(Margaret)of Peace River and son-in-law Henry (Bea); sisters Tena Olfert, Anne Hiebert and brothers George Fehr, Corney Fehr and Ben Fehr. She was also blessed with thirty six grandchildren, sixty nine great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren.
After Peter passed away in 1984, Elizabeth moved to Coaldale and later to Taber. Over the course of that time she enjoyed travelling on senior tours, reading the Valley News and participating in senior events. She remained very active until her sudden illness. She had a strong faith in the Lord and her children were very dear to her.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with her family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Evangelical Free Church, 5431 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Ron Gartly and Pastor Harry Unger officiating. Burial will follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
