CHRISTIE HAGEN

1922 - 2009

Christie (nee Odland) Hagen beloved wife of the late Lloyd Hagen passed away in Taber on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the age of 86 years.
Christie was born in Varhaug, Norway on December 9, 1922. In 1929 she sailed to Canada with her mother, one sister and three brothers to join their dad on a farm in the Sundial district where she was raised and went to school. In 1943 she married Lloyd Hagen. They farmed and raised their family in the Stone Lease district. Through the years Christie was involved in many community events and enjoyed being a member of the Stone Lease Ladies Club, Vauxhall Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Vauxhall Seniors. Christie enjoyed doing all sorts of crafts and loved having friends and neighbors drop in for coffee. She also enjoyed the occasional outing to the casino. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and was able to make two trips back to Norway to visit her families there. In 1975 Christie and Lloyd moved off the farm and retired in Vauxhall. After Lloyd’s passing in 1994 she remained living in their home in Vauxhall until 2003 when she moved to the Prairie Rose Manor in Vauxhall and lived their up until her passing.
Christie will be forever remembered by her sons Dale Hagen of Brooks and his children Rob (Brandi), Amiee (Colyn), Jodi (Patrick), Nicole (Nathan) and Rick; Larry (Sharon) Hagen of Enchant and their children Lori (Fraser) and Shannon (Marty); Brian (Sandra) Hagen of Vauxhall and their children Stacy (Teresa) and Sharla (Rick); her daughter Diane (Kelly) Howg of Enchant and their children Brandy, Lacey (David), Damon (fiancée, Catrina) and Dylan. Christie was a great grandma to sixteen great grandchildren who she adored. She will also be remembered by her brothers Pete (Joyce) Odland of Coaldale and Erling (Helen) Odland of Vauxhall; sisters Polly (Joe) Claeys of Lethbridge and Arlene Tolley of Lethbridge; brother-in-law Don (Trish) Hagen of Lethbridge and numerous nephews and nieces and their families.
Besides her loving husband Lloyd, she was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Mary (Bazant) Hagen; parents Erik and Abigail Odland; siblings Johanna and her husband Mag Severtson, Sam and his wife Shirley Odland, Alfred and his wife Faye Odland; brother-in-law Bill Tolley; great grandson Jackson Broderson and a half sister Malena Maland.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Jeffery Frostad officiating. Burial to follow at the Enchant Cemetery.
