ANNIE MEGYES
1923 - 2009
Annie E. Megyes, beloved wife of the late Frank Megyes, passed away in Taber on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the age of 85 years.
Annie was born December 26, 1923 in Yugoslavia to Adam and Katarina Horvath. She came to Canada in 1929 settling in the Taber area. On January 22, 1942 she married Frank Megyes. Frank and Annie lived on their family homestead where they raised their family. She continued to live there until 2005 when she moved to the Clearview Lodge. Annie enjoyed puzzles, gardening, word search and animals. She participated in most of the Lodge activities and enjoyed the field trips with Bingo being her favorite. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Annie passed down many traditional recipes to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Edward Megyes of Taber, Frank (Laurie) Megyes of Taber, Katherine (Bill) Goodchild of Creston, B.C. and Dave Megyes of Taber; grandchildren Cassandra (Kevin) Jorgensen, Melanie (Kevin) Hill, Tyler (Lindzi) Megyes, Krislin Meier (Dwight), Kevin Megyes, Brian Megyes, Michael Jodoin and Robert Jodoin; great grandchildren Mackenzy, Trinity and Lakiya Jorgensen, Christian, Joshua and Elijah Hill, Caydence and Oakley Megyes, Edan and Logan Meier, Michelle and Mathieu Jodoin; a sister Mary Siljak as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Megyes, three daughters and one son all in infancy, a brother-in-law John Siljak and parents Adam and Katarina Horvath.
Relatives and friends are invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Patrick Furtado SAC Celebrant. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
