IRENE POTIUK
1918 - 2004
Mrs. Irene Monica Potiuk of Taber, beloved wife of the late Mr. Fred Potiuk, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at the age of 85 years.
Irene was born in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan on October 19, 1918, the daughter of Kasmir and Ann Wilk. She received her schooling in Fox Valley and married Fred Potiuk in 1940. In 1946 Irene and Fred moved to Taber. Fred passed away on August 24, 1978 and Irene continued to reside in Taber until her passing. Irene enjoyed her yard, especially her flowers and garden. She loved to share with her neighbours and family. A visit to her house meant not leaving empty handed whether it was baking, garden produce, apples from her tree or something from the freezer. She was a great cook, liked to play bingo and visit with her friends and family. Irene loved her family visits, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children John (Carol) Potiuk of Olds and their children Jordan (Rhonda) and Dustin (Jennifer); Dave Potiuk of Taber and his son Brad; daughter-in-law Rosalyn Potiuk of Calgary and her children Bonny (Cory) Paddock and John Potiuk (fiance Kelly); three great grandchildren Evangeline, Spencer and Chandra; two sisters Linda (Nick) Donick and Alvina (Harry) Mason; brother Bill Wilk; sisters-in-law Jean Wilk and Maggie Wilk and brother-in-law Bill Velestuk.
She was predeceased by her parents Kasmir and Ann Wilk, husband Fred, son Vernon, sisters Victoria, Rose, Anne, Theresa and Mary and brothers John, Peter, William and Michael.
Relatives and friends are invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel (5006-48 Ave.) Taber on Friday, August 27, 2004 at 7:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church (5009-48 Ave.) Taber on Saturday, August 28 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Father Mariusz Sztuk SDS Celebrant. Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
