CARL PETERSON
1917 - 2008
Carl Melvin Peterson of Taber, beloved husband of the late Irene Peterson, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the age of 91 years.
Carl was born at Grassy Lake, Alberta on June 25, 1917, the son of Amon and Johanna Peterson. He married Irene Siewert on January 7, 1948.
Carl served with the Army during WW11 and was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He worked most of his working days for the Department of Highways. Carl and Irene took special pride in traveling to watch the grandchildren in their various sporting activities. Besides his passion for bowling he enjoyed having coffee with his best friend Abe Friesen at A&W.
Carl is survived by his children Marlene Peterson of Burdett, Melvin (Patti) of Taber, Richard (Deb) of Foremost, Vernon (Wendy) of Lethbridge and Ron of Taber; son-in-law Vern Knibb of Taber; 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Irene; son Edward; daughter Lola Knibb; son-in-law Gordon Peterson; eight brothers and two sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006-48 Ave., Taber on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 between 7:00 and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929-
50 Ave., Taber on Thursday, September 4 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Frank Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
