1953 - 2008
William James Ronald Parks Jr., beloved husband of Silvia Parks of Taber, passed away in Taber on Monday, October 20, 2008 at the age of 55 years.
Besides his loving wife Silvia, Bill is survived by his children, Laurie (Todd) Kerkhoff of Sherwood Park and their daughter Morgan; Jeremy (Natasha) Parks of Taber and his children Jordan, Audray, Saidey, Raygan, Owen and baby Leigha Lynn; Maryann (Steve) Verloop of Medicine Hat and their children Tyler, Joshua and Nathan; Jaclyn (Gary Tatlow) Parks of Medicine Hat and their daughter Teagan. He is also survived by his sisters Joanne Cann, Jean (Dale) Ellis, Judy (Des) McCarty and Lynette (Dave) Jordan; brother Victor (Cathy) Parks, sister-in-law Pat Boychuk, numerous nieces and nephews and by auntie Francis and her family.
He was predeceased by his parents William “Manny” Sr. & Velma Parks, brother Jack Parks and brother-in-law Bill Cann.
Bill, also known as “sport”, was born in Taber on April 9, 1953. He married Silvia Bruder on April 15, 1972 and together they raised their four children. Bill was well known in the oilpatch, having spent many years in the industry. He loved hockey, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs. In his younger years he spent time coaching both minor hockey and baseball in the Taber community. Bill also enjoyed collecting coins. His family was always his priority and his love in life. He will be sadly missed by his family, co-workers and many friends. Bill was extremely fond of his dogs and will be missed by the four of them, Bailey, Cassie, Rex and Max.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, October 23, 2008 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, October 24, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Frank Lewis officiating. A private family burial will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden.
