HERMAN OLSON
1931 - 2004
Mr. Herman O. Olson, beloved husband of Mrs. Lillian Olson of Vauxhall, passed away peacefully, in Lethbridge, with his family at his side, on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at the age of 73 years.
Herman was born on the family farm at Enchant on June 4, 1931, the youngest son of seven children born to Ole and Nellie Olson. He received his schooling at Sundial and Enchant schools. He married Lillian Rombough on October 20, 1951. Herman was involved in the construction of the Travers Dam and worked for many years in highway construction. He spent 25 years with the M.D. of Taber, retiring in 1994. He was a long time member of the Vauxhall Lions Club and the Vauxhall Legion. Herman was an avid sports participant and in particular a die hard Calgary Flames fan. He played 60 years of hockey in seven consecutive decades, the last game being December 3, 2003. He is now watching from Heavens Hockey Hall of Fame.
Besides his beloved wife Lillian, he is survived by his children Calvin (Maggie), Rod (Beth), Elwyn (Denise), Orlyn (Diane) and Virgil; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006-48 Ave., Taber on Thursday, July 29, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320-9 Street North on Friday, July 30 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Janice McCloskey officiating. Interment to follow in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
