CARLO MALEZAN
1913 - 2005
Mr. Carlo Malezan, beloved husband of the late Maria Malezan, passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the age of 92 years.
Carlo was born in Pakrac, Croatia on April 18, 1913. He married Maria Svjetlecic in 1938 and together they farmed in Croatia where they were blessed with nine children, four of whom passed away there. They moved to Italy in 1957 and in 1960 set sail for Canada, settling in Iron Springs. They later moved to Barnwell working in the beet fields until they were able to rent beet land in Taber. In 1965 Carlo bought his own land in Stone Lease. His wife, Maria passed away in 1967. He moved to Taber in 1993 and later sold his farm. Over the years he enjoyed traveling and made numerous trips back to Croatia. He especially enjoyed his vacations to Mexico and Hawaii. For the past five years, Carlo has been a resident of St. Michael's Health Centre.
Carlo is survived by his five children: Albert (Vlasta) and their children Robert (Eileen) and Mary; Frank and his sons Richard and James; Cathy (Arnold) Pederson and their children Garry (Nadine) and Christina (Blaine); Anna (Hasan) Ceuric and their children Allen (Debra) and Dean; Anthony; daughter-in-law Darlene; seven great grandchildren Matthew, Britney, Brady, Daniel, Derek, Brook and Connor and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife Maria he was predeceased by four children in infancy.
Relatives and friends are invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at 7:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, October 10, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Mariusz Sztuk SDS, Celebrant. Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
