SEIKO MIYASHIRO
1928 - 2005
Seiko Miyashiro of Taber, beloved husband of Geraldine, passed away after a valiant struggle with cancer on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at the age of 77 years.
Seiko was born on January 31, 1928 in Hardieville and was raised in the Crystal Lake area (Sunnyside). When Seiko and his siblings were still young children they lost both their parents, but despite this early tragedy he always faced life's obstacles with hope and optimism. He received his journeyman ticket in sheet metal work from SAIT and his gas ticket from NAIT. He and Geri (nee Higa) were married in 1955. They moved to Taber in 1964 where they raised their children and Seiko established a plumbing and heating business. One of the greatest benefits that came from the move to Taber was his newfound love of golf and curling. Through both sports he made many friends and enjoyed their company until the end. Seiko retired in 1993, and welcomed the opportunity to hone his skills on the course, rink, and in his workshop.
Seiko is survived by Geraldine, his wife of 50 years, and children Jackie (Daniel) Silberman of Calgary, Cathy (Alan) Whyte of Edmonton, Barbara (Frank) Adamo of Vancouver, Robert (Cheryl) Miyashiro of Lethbridge and Judy (Eldon Rawleigh) Miyashiro of Calgary; his cherished grandchildren Gabrielle, Leah (Joel), Danny, Michael, Heather, Jessalyn, Brock, Kael, Isabella, Will and Julia; and his sisters Masako (Shig) Goshinmon and Julia Goetz both of Lethbridge; sister-in-law Edna Miyashiro of Calgary, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews of the Miyashiro and Higa families. He was predeceased by his parents Masei and Gozei Miyashiro and brothers Takeshi and Jimmy.
