MOLLY MATSUMOTO

1933 - 2008

Our hearts are filled with sorrow at the passing of Tsuruko “Molly” Matsumoto who passed away in Taber on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the age of 75 years following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Molly is survived by her son Bill (Linda) Matsumoto of Medicine Hat and their four children, Kristen (Ryan) Thorogood and children Tynan & Keelyn; Bryan Davies; Jennifer (Thanos) Nattras, and Leah Davies all of Calgary. Molly is survived by her daughter Judy Pearson of Hays and her two sons, Cody (Rochelle) of Rainer and their daughter Keyanna, and Chad (Amanda) of Lethbridge. Molly is also survived by her sisters, Rosemary (Kay) Kitagawa of Lethbridge and Wendy Ridsdale of England; brothers, Garry (Jane) Kanomata of Toronto and Joe (June) Kanomata of Taber; sisters-in-law, Betty Uyesugi and Mae Kanomata both of Taber and by numerous nieces, nephews and her special friend Shelly Perini of Taber.
Molly was predeceased by her husband George Matsumoto; parents Kiyoshi & Miyoshi Kanomata and a brother, Charlie Kanomata.
Molly was born on September 10, 1933 in Mission City, British Columbia. The Kanomatas then moved to Japan for three years before returning to Mission City where she was raised until the age of seven. The family was moved to Southern Alberta in 1942.
In 1949, Molly married George Matsumoto and they settled in Cranford where they farmed and started their family. In 1961, the they moved to Taber where Molly made numerous friends while working at Oddie’s Drugs where she was employed for twenty five years. During this period, she enjoyed spending time with family, friends and curling.
Molly would go to no end and spare nothing of herself to see that everyone's needs were met. Her cheery greeting of “hellooooo” started the day for many of us. Her home was open to anyone and there was always great baking, coffee, games of cards and camaraderie - even the dogs were welcome!
“Catch ya later Molly”
