LAWRENCE MERKL
1944 - 2009
Lawrence Merkl lost his short but courageous battle with cancer on Saturday April 11, 2009, at the age of 64 years.
He was born on September 4, 1944. He received his education in Taber and farmed until retiring in the early ‘90s.
Lawrence will be lovingly remembered and missed by his children Melanie Merkl of Taber, Allen Merkl, Brian Merkl, and Amy Merkl of Prince George British Columbia; step-daughters Kimberley Dalton of Taber and Amanda Dalton of Prince George British Columbia; their mother Laura Merkl (nee Fehr) and Aunty Jenn (Dave) Johansen of Taber.
Lawrence will also be missed by his brothers and sisters Godfred (Ann) Merkl of Taber, Elizabeth Merkl of Lethbridge, Teresa Seiller of Lethbridge, Mary (Don) Bell of Edmonton, Irene Fuzey of Lethbridge, Martha Ervin of Lethbridge, Joe Merkl of Edmonton, Rose Merkl of Lethbridge, Frank (Margo) Merkl of Medicine Hat and George Merkl of Edmonton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Laurence and Martha Merkl; brother Steve Merkl; brothers-in-law Art Fuzey, Rick Ervin, Gordon Fehr and Robert Fehr.
Relatives and friends are invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Mariusz Sztuk SDS Celebrant.
Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
