He is also survived by his brothers Bill (Louise) Laqua of Lethbridge and Bob (Lillian) Laqua of Sylvan Lake; sister Joyce O’Connell of Parkhill, Ontario; sister-in-law Joan (Pete) Kwasnecha of Leduc as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Lyle; parents Bill & Mildred Laqua; granddaughter Cinnamon Laqua; son-in-law Dave Derksen and brothers-in-law Victor O’Connell & Neil Bailey.
While farming was his passion, Chuck had many other talents and interests. In all his undertakings, whether planting or harvesting, building or renovating a house for family or a neighbor, skipping a curling team, pitching a baseball, hunting or fishing, he did it to the utmost of his ability. During the nineties he became interested in Lylla’s hobby of stained glass and soon they were spending their winters constructing memorial windows for the Foremost United Church (eight in all). This
was a further labour of love for the church fellowship he served all his life. A man of few words, Chuck’s integrity, trustworthiness and love of family shone through. He was indeed the foundation of our family and we know how blessed we were.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Foremost United Church, 202 - 2 Avenue East, Foremost on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. Burial to follow at the Foremost Cemetery. After the service, family and friends are invited for lunch and fellowship at the Community Hall where no doubt the conversation will turn to, among other things, the Hoping community dances, the Lucky Strike Ball Club, Foremost curling in its hey-day, hunting with his family and buddies, or the church at Thistle Ridge and how no-one ever went home alone on a Sunday afternoon.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Chuck’s name may be made directly to Bow Island Health Centre (Palliative Care), Bag 3990, Bow Island, Alberta T0K 0G0.
