DARYL BACON
1922 - 2006
Mrs. Janet Daryl Bacon, beloved wife of Mr. Russell Bacon of Taber, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at the age of 83 years.
Daryl was born at Central Butte, Saskatchewan on October 27, 1922. She was raised at Lawson, Saskatchewan where she received her schooling. During the war years, Daryl was employed in Toronto with a small arms and ammunition plant. On August 26, 1943, she married Russell Bacon at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. They came to Alberta where they lived at Scandia and Brooks before settling at Hays in 1953. During that same year, they welcomed the birth of their daughter Deborah. Many years were spent farming before moving to Taber in 1973. Daryl was employed with Barons Eureka Support Services, retiring in 1987. In her retirement years, Daryl remained active in the community where she was involved with the Knox United Church Women, the Royal Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary and the Taber Lioness Club.
Besides Russell, her loving husband of more than sixty two years and six months, Daryl is survived by her daughter Deborah Bacon of Frankfurt, Germany; her brother Bill and his wife Mary McLachlan of Campbell River, British Columbia, her sisters Ella Drake of Brooks and Mona and her husband Murray Boyle of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; her sisters-in-law Ruby McLachlan of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Helen McLachlan of Kindersley, Saskatchewan as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers Hughie McLachlan and Mac McLachlan and by her brother-in-law Art Drake.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating.
