Jean Bertha Sowinski, beloved wife of the late Harry Sowinski passed away peacefully with her family at her side in Taber on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the age of 87 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 6:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Jean Bertha Sowinski, beloved wife of the late Harry Sowinski passed away peacefully with her family at her side in Taber on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the age of 87 years.
Jean is lovingly survived by her children Shirley (Ed) Derksen of Taber and their family Wesley (Codie) Derksen, Jordan Derksen, Lindsay Derksen and Ryan Derksen; William (Annette) Sowinski of Macoun, Saskatchewan and their family Dustin (Gerri) Sowinski, Mathew (Jordanne) Collett and Zachary (Caitlin) Sowinski; Lisa Sowinski of Taber and her family Travis and Morgan Astalos. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and her remaining three siblings George Daniels of Calgary, Mary Daniels of Chilliwack, British Columbia and Lawerence (Mary) Daniels of Longview as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Harry Sowinski on October 1, 2019 and daughter Linda Sowinski on December 13, 2000.
Jean was born March 10, 1938, in Balcarres, Saskatchewan. She settled in Taber in 1957 after visiting her parents. Jean was the thirteenth child of fourteen children born to Angus and Helen Daniels. She met the love of her life the “Bear” Harry Sowinski at the Rex Café in the spring of 1959 and their love was united in marriage on November 28, 1959.

The family would like to thank the palliative care team, home care, St. Augustine’s church family, Homestead Manor family, and to Ron and Anita for their once a week visits.
