Jenny Mazereeuw

1929 - 2025

Jantje Mazereeuw, beloved wife of the late Peter “Pete” Mazereeuw, passed away in Taber on Friday, March 28, 2025 at the age of 95 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, April 3, 2025 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

A private burial service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden prior to the funeral service on Friday, April 4, 2025.

The Funeral Service will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church, 3902 Heritage Drive, Taber on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 2:00 P.M.

Jenny is survived by her two daughters Rene Fettig of Taber and her family Danielle (Devin) Hansen and Rob (Debbie) Fettig; Margaret (Ron) Iskov of Taber and her family David (Nicole) Valgardson; daughter-in-law Barb Mazereeuw of Edmonton and her family Charles (Brittany) Mazereeuw, Geoffrey (Sam) Mazereeuw as well as numerous great grandchildren.

She was welcomed into heaven by her husband Pete Mazereeuw, son John Mazereeuw, son-in-law Bob Fettig; grandsons Blaine Fettig and Chris Smith.

Jenny was born in Opperdoes, Holland on November 16, 1926. She joined Pete in Canada on May 4, 1948 and she married the love of her life on June12, 1949. Jenny proudly became a Canadian citizen on February 8, 1957.

Jenny’s loyal career with the Taber Hospital started in 1959 in the laundry department, eventually moving up and graduated as a nurses aid. She retired as a supervisor in the CSR in 1994. Jenny was referred to as the “bleach queen” because she would bleach everything she could. Jenny had a passion for travel and could be found in all parts of the world with her side kick, Rene Columbo. She always looked forward to seeing new parts of the world. Jenny also loved camping with Peter and her grandchildren. Family and friends were treasured by Jenny. She never forgot a birthday and you could always count on a phone call along with her singing you “Happy Birthday”.

Jenny will be dearly missed and always remembered for her willingness to help her children and grandchildren with anything they asked.
