Bill Peters

1960 - 2024

William Joseph Peters, beloved husband of Ann Peters, passed away in Taber in Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the age of 63 years.

The Funeral Service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. 

Bill is survived by his wife Ann; children Jason Peacock of Calgary, Keleeja Peters (Brandon Sansregrett) of Calgary and Kierra (Jayden) Vandekraats of Coaldale; grandchildren who held the most special place in his heart, Amadeus Peacock, Attilla Peacock, Jenna Vandekraats and Luke Vandekraats. He is also survived by his siblings Ann (Willy) Lutka, Edward (Lee Ann) Peters, David Peters and Donna (Bob) LeJeune; honourary brother Tim (Tracey) Rowen and family; mother-in-law Anna Buzsik; brothers-in-law Bill Buzsik and Cheyenne Lee (Marcie) Buzsik; nieces and nephews Christopher (Mary) Lutka, Bobby Lutka, Wren Peters, Jon (Sandra) Peters, Cortney Peters (her child Oaklynn), Nicole (Rob) LeJeune, Steven (Patrice) Buzsik, Michael (Erin) Buzsik, Tony (Emily) Buzsik, Christopher (Christina) Buzsik, Jessica (Stephen) Brown, Willy Buzsik, Alexander Buzsik, Taylor Buzsik and Ethan Buzsik and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary (née Fast) Peters; father-in-law Frank Buzsik Sr.; brother-in-law Frank Buzsik Jr.

Born in St. Catharines, Ontario as the third of five children, Bill grew up with a great love of swimming with his siblings, fishing, travelling and troublemaking. When he was fifteen, his father passed away and he became a legendary high school drop-out in order to hitchhike all across North America on his own terms (almost meeting his early demise a few too many times). At a young age, he joined the army and served as an infantryman for a few years. Bill was eventually dishonourably discharged for going AWOL to chase after a girl. He continued his travels, love of adventure and spontaneity well into his thirties. Through his best friend Tim, Bill met the love of his life Ann, and her son Jason. Ann and Bill married a few short months later in August of 1997, and Bill welcomed Jason as his son. After knowing the love of having one child, they decided they wanted more. They welcomed Keleeja in 1998 and Kierra in 1999. Bill worked so hard to provide the best life possible for his family, often having to make the sacrifice of working away from home for long stretches of time. It was such a blessing when he created his business in Calgary that allowed him to be home with his family more often. He always encouraged and cheered on the life choices of his children and watched their careers blossom and families grow. His four grandchildren, Amadeus, Attilla, Jenna and Luke, held the most special place in his heart. He spent every moment of their lives loving and cherishing them so deeply. Bill was unfortunately diagnosed with end stage Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) which progressed rapidly. He will always be loved and remembered as our favourite fisherman, funny face maker and pizza connoisseur. His family will carry on his amazing legacy of unconditional love, empathy, and everlasting commitment.
