Leonard was born February 27, 1941 in Bracken, Saskatchewan, the fourth child of Andrew and Angeline Bolen. In 1953 the family moved to Hays, then on to Taber in 1970, a few years after the passing of his father. Leonard worked for many years at Vauxhall Foods as a mechanic and welder. He made many friends along the way. Leonard later changed employment to the Taber Sugar Factory, where he worked until he retired in 2006. In 1992 Leonard met Marie, who along with her children Marilyn, Lee, Donna and Brenda, gave him an instant family. There were many years of family gatherings and celebrations. Leonard and Marie took many trips together, travelling Canada from coast to coast. They never spent a day apart, enjoying each other’s company each and everyday. They were like two peas in a pod. Leonard remained in Vauxhall after Marie’s passing until 2021 at which time he moved to Clearview Lodge in Taber. He made many new friends as well as kept his life long friends from Vauxhall close at heart. Leonard was a quiet and very kind soul who loved his family very much. He had a special place in his heart for his grandson Nic, who along with the rest of the family, will miss him dearly.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Leonard’s name may be made directly to the Royal Canadian Legion, 5205 - 48 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1S8.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Taber Hospital as well as the staff at the Clearview Lodge for the care given to Leonard.
