John Bryant

1944 - 2024

It is with sadness that the family of John Bryant, formerly of Whitehorse, Yukon and most recently Creston, British Columbia and the Lethbridge area, announce his unexpected passing in Taber on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the age of 79 years.

John is survived by his children Doug Bryant (Donna Rogers) of Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia and Stacey (David) Martin and grandchildren Joshua and Sara Martin of Orleans, Ontario; his stepfather Gerald Walsh and stepsister Susan Walsh of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

John lived most of his adult life in Whitehorse, Yukon. He loved his dogs and anything to do with the outdoors - hunting, fishing, running dogs or camping. In his later years, on any given weekend, he could be found running the Yukon lakes in his Bayliner boat, catching fish wherever he put a line into the water. He loved to be fishing and hunting, although he hadn't hunted in many years, he still kept an interest in it. He kept this interest by starting to compete at organized trap shooting events.

John always loved dogs, whether it was those first malemutes, Takhini, Siberian huskies that he trained for racing, his chocolate lab Copper or his last dog, chocolate lab Keno. Keno kept him busy, demanding walks a couple times every day. Keno never left his side from the time he was picked up as an eight week old pup.

John worked for many years at Whitehorse Ford, eventually retiring at Acklands Grainger in 2010. It was at this time that he sold his Porter Creek home and became a full time RVer, splitting time between Arizona in the winter and the Lethbridge area in the summers. During this time, he spent time at RV parks that had trap shooting venues so he could keep shooting. He would also travel to trap shooting competitions every so often, enjoying his time with his shooting friends. In his last few years he stopped shooting and stopped traveling to Arizona for winters, remaining in Creston, British Columbia.

John will be privately remembered by his family.
