WESTE JENSEN

1907 - 2007

Weste Marinus Jensen, beloved husband of Hazel Jensen of Taber, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the age of 99 years, just a few hours shy of his 100th birthday.
Besides his loving wife Hazel of 67 years, Weste is survived by his children Audrey Chadukiewich of Edmonton, Joan (Stephen) Forster of Prince George, British Columbia and Lorne (Geri) Jensen of Taber; grandchildren Darryl, Terry, Dennis, Tracey (Terry), Joyanne (Martin), Ian (Dee), Janice (Jerry) and Karmen (Gregg); great grandchildren Jason, Travis, Terilyn, Teresa, Alicia, Kristina, Megan, Rachael, Victoria, Felicity and Ava.
He was predeceased by his son Weste Jr. and son-in-law Joe Chadukiewich.
Weste was born November 16, 1907 at home on the family farm near Gaansager, Denmark. After receiving his schooling, he began apprenticing as a Blacksmith and later a Machinist. He worked a few years in Denmark before immigrating to Canada in 1929. After arriving in Canada, Weste worked on various farms near Calgary, was a partner in a motorcycle delivery service and in 1936 began working in the welding industry. Weste met a lovely young lady named Hazel Greene at a church dance one evening and courted her for a year and a half before marrying her on June 15, 1940. They then moved to Turner Valley where he worked as a welder for Ocalta Oil. In 1944 he moved his family to Taber where he set up a portable welding truck. Weste worked in the oilfield until the end of the war and in March 1946 purchased a shop and started Jensen’s Welding where he remained until his retirement in 1975.
Weste loved to dance, “cutting the rug” even at his ninetieth birthday party. He enjoyed curling and was a proud member of the Loyal Order of the Moose for many years. Weste and Hazel enjoyed traveling to their winter home in Florida for many years.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Frank Lewis officiating.  Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Weste’s name may be made directly to the Taber Hospital Foundation (Continuing Care), 4326 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta  T1G 1N9.
