Peter loved spending time with his family and if anyone were to ask Peter what his favorite thing to do was, he would definitely say, "taking my family fishing!" He also recently loved to go hunting. Peter was a hardworking man and loved his job driving truck. But this work was not meant to be his lifelong work for Peter, as the cancer took it’s toll. Peter was admitted to the hospital February 6, 2021, with what seemed like heart attack symptoms. They thought it was from the exhaustion of his night time work. The very next day he was diagnosed with Gist Cancer; a rare and uncurable stage four cancer. He was only expected to live for a few more weeks. Peter had surgery to remove a large tumor. In the coming months, Peter fought hard and it almost seemed like the cancer had left by June, but the cancer came back with a vengeance, nothing seemed to be able to stop it. The cancer had spread in his stomach, spleen, pancreas and liver. Seven years before his cancer, Peter had a dream that he would have cancer and that it would be in the upper part of his body. God promised him that He would hold him in His hands and that he just needed to trust him through it all. In his battle with this aggressive cancer and in all his adversity, Peter's passion became to point others to Christ. Peter remained steadfast in his faith and went peacefully to be with the Lord where he will suffer no more.
