ROY JENSEN
1924 - 2009
Elmer LeRoy Jensen beloved husband of Ellen Jensen (nee Rombough), passed away peacefully in his sleep in Taber on Monday, March 9, 2009 at the age of 84 years.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ellen; his son Barry (Debbie) Jensen of Taber, their children Candee (Jamie) Thurston, Jodi (Andy) Blacquier, Jason (Dee) Jensen and Barry’s grandchildren, Tyson, Taylor, Bailey, Jessie, Wyatt and Kody; his son Kim (Linda) Jensen of Lethbridge and their children Justin (Kendra) Jensen and Travis (Shelly) Jensen; his daughter Laurie (Rick) Chapman of Red Deer, their children Keri (James) Lee, Ken (Denise) Chapman and Laurie’s grandchildren, Nathan, Tanner, Kallie, Jacob and Gabriel. He is also survived by his brothers Marion Jensen of Taber and Ross Jensen of Lundbreck; sisters Shirley (Bill) Stoltz of Calgary and Darlene Layton of Taber; sisters-in-law Virginia Jensen of Taber, Connie (Earl) Grigor of Barnwell and extended family Robert (Nancy) Murakani. Roy will be fondly remembered by Ellen’s family including Mary, Ruth, Edna (Mel), Vivian and Agnes.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nephi & Ivy Jensen; sister Thelma Jensen; brothers Fred and Walter Jensen; brother-in-law Dick Layton; sisters-in-law Betty Jensen and Marion Jensen and a grandson, Wayne Barry Jensen.
Roy’s love was his family, grandkids and great grandkids - his farm and his purebred Charolais cattle.
Roy was born on December 28, 1924 to Nephi & Ivy Jensen at Taber. He married his best friend, Ellen Rombough on March 7, 1947 and farmed in the Fincastle area until the time of his passing.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, March 12, 2009 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. only as no meet the family is scheduled prior to the funeral service.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Frank Walton conducting. A private family burial will follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
