Cheryl Gash
1954 - 2022
Cheryl Lynn Gash (née Mercer), born in Lethbridge and long time resident of Taber, passed away in the early hours on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the age of 68 years.
Besides Brian, her loving husband of forty nine years, Cheryl is survived by their daughter Lisa (Rod) Klok of Taber and their children Connor, Kassidy, Kaitlyn, Janine, Marten, Andrea, Jarred and their grandchildren Noah, Kabrina, Skylar and Jayde; her son Ryan and Marlena McLeod of Vancouver, British Columbia and their children Ronan and Maylin Gash.
Cheryl was very fortunate to have a wonderful extended family and circle of friends that loved her dearly. Her niece Sharon Nason was not only family, but also her best friend. She was an extremely caring mother and spouse, doting over her family, shepherding them along and taking pride in their many accomplishments over the years.
Prior to moving to Taber in 1998, Cheryl had a career as a jeweller, before transitioning to establishing a private company with her husband at which she worked until her passing. She loved spending time travelling between her home, Fernie, British Columbia and Vancouver Island, British Columbia where she revelled in visiting with family and friends and enjoying retirement.
Some of Cheryl’s fondest memories occurred as a child with her parents Evelyn and Richard in Waterton Lakes National Park and later with her own family at places such as Island Lake Lodge, Butchart Gardens, Lake Koocanusa and Robert’s Bay in Sydney, British Columbia. On Cheryl’s wishes, the family will hold a small and private celebration of life at these locations in the near future and in the coming months.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Cheryl’s name may be made directly to the Taber and District Health Foundation, 4326 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N9 www.tdhf.ca or to the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, 2888 Shaganappi Trail NW, Calgary, Alberta T3B 6A8 www.childrenshospital.ab.ca.
The family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful women and men at the Taber Hospital whose tireless work brought comfort to the family and continues day after day in service to their community.
