Christina Birch

1931 - 2022

Christina Ruth Birch, passed away in Taber on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the age of 91 years. A beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

The private burial service was held at the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 1:00 P.M.

Christina is survived by her sons Tom (Judy) Birch of Grande Prairie and Tracey (Linda) Birch of Red Deer; daughter-in-law Debbie Birch of Cardston; son-in-law Joe Geisner of Windsor, California; grandchildren Tammy Blum (her children Joseph, Samantha and Tyson Blum), Trisha Birch, Billy (Teresa) Birch (their children Josh Benson and Liam Birch), JoAnne VanMaarion (her children Payden and Makenna VanMaarion), Jennifer (Paul) Maier (their children Logan and Brayden Maier), Brad (Janae) Birch (their children Kamyrn, Blakely, Brylee, Parker, Brigham and Dalyn Birch), Tara (Jeremy) Jensen (their children Ashton and Shaelynn Jensen), Leslie Birch (her son Mason Sparkes), Terry Birch, Jeff (Natalia) Birch (their children Lucy, Oliver, Phoenix and Xavi Birch), Kaden Birch, Rebecca Geisner, Benjamin (Vanessa) Geisner and Stephanie (Jared) Havens (their son Oliver Havens). She is also survived by her sister Ada Dougan of Ucluelet, British Columbia as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter Susan Geisner, son Terry Birch, great grandson (Angel Baby) Evan Jensen, parents Thomas Smith and Ruth West, brothers Thomas (in childhood), Donald and Ted Smith.

Christina enjoyed sewing and made many western shirts for the family to wear to participate in horse shows and parades. She sewed dresses, suits and other items for her daughter Susan and herself over the years. Christina had a great appreciation of higher learning and for several years she attended the University of Lethbridge and did very well receiving very high marks. She loved to surprise family or friends with treats and would often bring them homemade fudge or buns (usually still warm from the oven) or delicious peanut butter cookies. Christina crocheted many blankets for family and friends over the years. She especially enjoyed being a Grandma. Christina always looked forward to the birth of each new member of the family and would always bring a baby gift to celebrate, often an item that she had made. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Christina had a strong faith and love of the gospel and scriptures.
