Sue is survived by seven siblings and their families, all of whom live in the United States as well as many friends and colleagues.
She was predeceased by her parents Artice and Louie Brandt.
Sue was born December 8, 1957, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She was a graduate nurse and originally came to Canada with a friend to assist in the care of the friends' ailing father whom she had cared for when he was hospitalized in Grand Forks. Sue liked the community of Burdett and the country of Canada and so decided to immigrate. Burdett became her home. Susan was a very capable person and worked at many jobs until she was able to establish her nursing credentials in Alberta. She then obtained employment at the Bow Island Health Center. She later assumed the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the Forty Mile Foundation which involved the management of Pleasant View Lodge and Manor as well as Forty Mile Foundation Housing, all under the umbrella of Alberta Seniors Ministry. Sue said “This position presents as many challenges as it does rewards”.
She was also a lover of music and was very musical, playing many instruments and able to sing harmony to nearly everything she heard. The churches and communities of Burdett and Bow Island were appreciative audiences when she shared her musical talents with them.
Susan also loved the outdoors and worked and played "outside" as much as possible. Camping was on her agenda most weekends during the summer where she loved building a fire and cooking in the smoke! "There is nothing better than the smell of fresh coffee brewed outside on a camp stove". Sue loved chopping wood for the wood-burner in her home. Other hobbies included crocheting, cross-stitching and wood working. Sue loved animals, especially her "boys", Toby and later Obediah “Obie”, dogs that revelled in her TLC!
She will be missed!
