TOM HOPKINS
1919 - 2005
Mr. Thomas "Tom" Hopkins, beloved husband of Mrs. Lois Hopkins of Bow Island, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2005 at the age of 85 years.
Tom was born on August 18, 1919 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, the son of Thomas and Jemima Hopkins. He lived the majority of his life in the Morning Star district where he received his schooling and farmed. In his younger years he showed chickens throughout North America where he won many prizes and medals. He married Lois Dragland on September 20, 1949.
Besides his loving wife Lois, he is survived by three children Gordon (Joanne) Hopkins of Burdett, Bev (Alan) Whitmore of Calgary and Shirley (Dodge) Slagle of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren Jan and Brad Hopkins, Kim & Melanie Whitmore, Amy, Mandy and William Slagle; a brother Jack (Margaret) Hopkins of Bow Island; two sisters Maoni (Gordie) Moss of Red Deer and Margaret Ross of Lethbridge and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Rex Hopkins, sister-in-law Rita Hopkins and brother-in-law Stubb Ross.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006-48 Ave., Taber on Sunday, May 15, 2005 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 139-2 Ave. West, Bow Island on Monday, May 16 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Sandra McMillan officiating. A Private Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Medicine Hat.
