Ray Ulrich
1925 - 2021
Raymond Richard Ulrich, beloved husband of the late Margaret Ulrich, passed away in Bow Island on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the age of 96 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island on Monday, July 5, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. A private burial service followed at the Bow Island Cemetery.
Ray is survived by his children Vivian (Calvin) Sime of Golden, British Columbia, Rod Ulrich of Calgary, Timothy Ulrich (Tamera Dieno) of Bow Island, Stephen (Trish Heidinger) Ulrich of Medicine Hat; daughter-in-law Sandra Huizing of Burdett and son-in-law Robert MacMillan of Lethbridge; grandchildren Ryan Gatz, Randy (Kim) Gatz, Megan (Steve) Hjorleifson, Mitchell Sime, Myles MacMillan, Kas MacMillan, Amanda Ulrich, Tanner Ulrich, Alies Huizing, Eric Skarland, Cassie Skarland and Rowyn Ulrich; great grandchildren Kayden Gatz, Mason Gatz, Emery Hjorleifson and JoniBlae Hjorleifson. He is also survived by his sister Helen (Bill) Squires of Calgary and brother Reverend Albert Ulrich; sister-in-law Hilda Ulrich of North Battleford, Saskatchewan and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret Ulrich, daughter Linda Gatz and her husband Larry Gatz, son Duane Ulrich and daughter Shirley MacMillian; mother Anna Ulrich and father John Ulrich; brothers Lawrence Ulrich, Leroy Ulrich, Donald Ulrich and sister Josephine Sittler.
Ray was born in Scott, Saskatchewan on May 18, 1925 and lived on the farm south east of there until coming to Bow Island in 1950.
His main passions in life were farming, curling, family camping and fishing, but he also enjoyed many other activities including hunting, skiing and wood working. He knew how to and very much enjoyed having a good time, dancing and socializing with the good people of Bow Island and surrounding area. Ray was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was very active and helpful in the community.
