1920 - 2005

William Grant Haynes, beloved husband of Alice Haynes of Taber, passed away at the Taber Hospital on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at the age of 85 years.
Besides his loving wife Alice, Grant is survived by his children William (Heather) Haynes, Judith Dreyer, Sherrie Kwan, Lloyd (Penny) Haynes, Cindy (Norm) Miller, Brad (Jan) Haynes and Lori(Rob) Friesen; Alice's children Dallace (Gloria) Jensen, Harold (Judy) Jensen, Alma (Olga) Jensen, Robert (Shirley) Jensen, Valeen (Mal) Coffill, Lynette (Bruce) Kramer, Garth (Barbara) Jensen, Janell (Bill) Kress, Loretta Chartrand, Rodney (Laura) Jensen and Danny Jensen; and by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Melvin (Edna) Haynes and by his sisters Vera (Bernard) Layton and Rae (Gordon) Stevens.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Ruth Haynes, his siblings Floyd, Lynn and Eva Haynes, Frances King and by his son Craig Haynes.
Grant was born in Taber May 21, 1920, the son of John Henry Haynes and Ruth Marie Johnson Haynes. He was married to Nedra Bennett of Barnwell. He later married Alice Marian Jensen of Taber on May 18, 1991. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Grant was a farmer, a cowboy and a jack of all trades. He raised cattle near Taber where he farmed for many years. On his 30th birthday, Grant won the Steer Decorating Championship at the Taber Rodeo. His time remained a Canadian record for several years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, January 1, 2006 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 54th Street Chapel, 5314 - 54 Street, Taber on Monday, January 2, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Michael Saunders conducting. Interment to follow at the Barnwell Cemetery.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Grant's name may be made directly to the LDS Humanitarian Fund or to the LDS Missionary Fund.
