VAN HASLAM
1915 - 2006
Mr. Van Haslam, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Norma Haslam, his loving wife of sixty-five years, passed away at the Taber Hospital on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the age of 90 years.
Van will be remembered by his children Kent (Ann) of Nashville, Tennessee, Robert (Lydia) of Lethbridge, Bruce (Susan) of Mesa, Arizona, Patti (Jim) Fleming of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jerry (Wendy) of Taber and Jay (Shawna) of Airdrie; twenty-eight grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by all of his siblings which included three brothers and two sisters.
Van attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah where he met Norma. They were married in Los Angeles, California February 3, 1940 and lived in California and Utah before settling in Taber in 1946 where they lived and farmed. Van was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a loving husband and father, he devoted his life to taking care of his family and home and also enjoyed the association of many wonderful friends. Van had a wonderful sense of humor, was an avid golfer and sports fan, and loved hunting and fishing in his younger years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, May 7, 2006 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also at the church prior to the funeral service on Monday, May 8, 2006 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:40 A.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Monday, May 8, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Michael Saunders conducting. Interment to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
