Gordon Jensen
1925 - 2021
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Joseph Gordon Jensen, passed away peacefully in Taber on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the age of 95 years.
As a result of the restrictions regarding COVID-19 and the government recommendations, a private funeral service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Barnwell Chapel on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. Burial followed at the Barnwell Cemetery.
Besides his eternal companion Ruth, his loving wife of sixty nine years, Gordon is survived by their children, daughter Barbara (Allen) Emmett of Stockton, California, oldest son Ken (Gay) Jensen of Cardston and youngest son Doug (Anita) Jensen of Barnwell. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Leah Dyck, Vera Jensen and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born April 2, 1925, Gordon was raised on the family farm north of Barnwell. The son of Niels and Edith Jensen, he had eight brothers and sisters. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing hockey, riding horses, picking berries and driving horses on the farm.
He married Ruth in 1951 and soon after took over farming the family farm where they raised their three children and numerous grandchildren until 2017 when they moved into the Clearview Lodge in Taber. Gordon loved horses and cattle and to feed with his team of horses. He loved to spend time surrounded by his family. He was known for his hard work ethic, his great strength and his willingness to help anyone. His word and his handshake were his bond. Gordon was a good friend to his neighbours and a great example to all that knew him. He always made everyone feel important and will be greatly missed.
