It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richelle Humphries (Virostek) in Calgary on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 after a short illness at the age of 64 years.

Richelle will also be greatly missed by her siblings Cam Tunow and her daughter Morgan Tunow; Keena (Mike) McCabe; Darcey (Randy) Syrenne and their children Cole (Kim) Syrenne and Tori Syrenne; Glynnis (Lynn) Turcato and their children Lindsay (Ryan) Smith, Whitney (Gord) Froese and Clay (Bonnie) Turcato; Richard (Monica) Humphries and their son Russell Zaluski as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Dick and Fanny Humphries, brother Richard Jay Humphries (1955), as well as Kevin’s parents George and Shirley Virostek.
Richelle was born and raised in Taber, graduating from WR Myers in 1974. She then pursued a career as an X-ray technician. She spent forty one years of her career at the Holy Cross Centre and Foothills Medical Centre, retiring in 2018.
Richelle was fun-loving with a huge heart. She was always quick to laugh, which often turned into cry-laughing and then snorting, which inevitably resulted in more cry-laughing. It’s no wonder all who loved her truly enjoyed any time with spent with her. Richelle often planned and executed many family gatherings with her siblings, nieces and nephews—often times participating in 5K runs with them all. With not much enthusiasm for cardio in the family, the well attended runs were a testament to how much we all loved spending time with Richelle.
Richelle had a keen interest in horses and often competed in reining, which is how she met her soulmate, Kevin. She was a fun and loving wife to Kevin and they were always at each other’s side. Richelle enjoyed the challenge of garage sales and bargain hunting and would love to show off her new found treasures. She loved her horses, family, and cats.
The family would like to thank the Foothills Medical Centre Neuro Unit and the ICU for the exceptional care and attention Richelle received during her last days. She truly was one of the good ones and she will be missed by many.
