Anne Doerksen

1921 - 2020

 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Anne Doerksen announce her passing in Taber on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 just five months shy of her 100th birthday.

 As a result of the restrictions regarding COVID-19 and the government recommendations, a private burial service was held at Vauxhall Mennonite Cemetery, Vauxhall on Saturday, December 12, 2020.  

 Anne is survived by her five children Marlene (Bryan) Beerling of Lethbridge, Elmer (Marilyn) Doerksen of Hays, Elma Guinto of Lethbridge Gary (Sandy) Doerksen of Hays and Robert (Lori) Doerksen  of Hays; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Olfert and sister-in-law Helen Wiens.

 She was predeceased by her husband John, son Harry and two brothers Henry Wiens and Jacob Wiens. 

 Anne was born in Molotschna, Ukraine  on April 21, 1921 to Heinrich and Margaretha Wiens. Soon after, the Wiens family fled Russia to make a new home for themselves in Canada. Anne grew up and married John Doerksen in McCreary, Manitoba. In 1957, the family moved to Hays as part of a PFRA land exchange project. Anne helped with the farming chores including growing bountiful vegetable and flower gardens. When they retired in 1990, they moved to Taber where they spent most mornings at A&W having coffee with their many friends. Anne had never learned to drive so she was so happy that she could walk everywhere to visit her friends and go for a coffee. 

 Anne was a very thoughtful and caring woman, always remembering the birthdays of her family, friends and TOPS friends. She supported her children and grandchildren in all of their activities, be it school or their other activities. She loved her lap full of little ones. Anne always kept up with her extended family through the years.

 Her family meals were a feast! She loved to cook and bake, especially her buns, and have all of her family around the table. She also had a very sweet tooth.

 Anne was a faithful TOPS member even into her nineties and was so very proud of achieving, and keeping her KOPS status for many years.

 Most importantly, her faith in God was how she lived her life.  Anne spent time in prayer daily and loved to sing her favorite hymns. Her church life was very important to her. Finally, she eagerly anticipated her entrance into Heaven and meeting her Jesus face to face. "We rejoice with you Mom."
