LLOYD HARDEN

1928 - 2007

Lloyd George Harden, beloved husband of the late Roxie Harden, passed away in Taber on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at the age of 78 years.
Lloyd is survived by his children - Leslie Harden of Fort Thomas, Kentucky; Darrell Harden of Chase, British Columbia; Mildred (Allan) Stewart of Taber; Doug (Michelle) Harden of Taber; Carol (Bill) Stratton of Lethbridge; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Roxie, his mother Nellie and by his son-in-law Rob Jansen.
Lloyd was born at Bienfait, Saskatchewan on December 10, 1928. He received his schooling in Wymark, Saskatchewan. Following his schooling, he worked as a mechanic in Swift Current before returning to farm at Wymark. When he was 19, he moved to Fort Macleod where he rode for the Big Coulee Ranch and later the McIntyre Ranch. In 1952 he married Roxie Parry in Great Falls, Montana. They farmed for a short while until Lloyd became an agent for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and later the Alberta Wheat Pool. In 1969 he became self employed, operating Harden Supply in Vauxhall. Lloyd was a member of the Vauxhall Lions Club, served a term on Vauxhall Town Council and was a member of the Vauxhall Volunteer Fire Department for fifteen years.
Lloyd always had a story or a joke to tell, sharing them even up until the time of his passing. He always had the time of day to help someone in need. Lloyd had a way of teaching you something without making you feel small. He worked hard and was a man of his word. His word was his “guarantee”. Lloyd will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Alana Johnson of the Parkview United Church in Vauxhall officiating. Burial to follow at the Vauxhall Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Lloyd’s name may be made directly to S.T.A.R.S. (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society), 1441 Aviation Park N.E., Calgary, Alberta  T2E 8M7.
