John Bos

1937 - 2019

 John Bos, beloved husband of Coby Bos, peacefully passed away in the hands of his Lord and Savior in Taber on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the age of 82 years.

 Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday,  November 19, 2019 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

 A private burial service was held at the Taber Memorial Garden prior to the funeral service.

 The Funeral Service was held at the First Christian Reformed Church, 3902 Heritage Drive, Taber on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M.  

 John was a loving father to Jacqueline (John) Andrade of Taber, Clarence (Melanie) Bos of Taber, Karen Schmidtke of Taber, Kimberley (Nathan) Born of Okotoks and Michael (Leanne) Bos of Spruce Grove. He was blessed with nineteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren with two more on the way. John is also survived by three sisters.

 He was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters.

 John was born in Opperdoes, the Netherlands, son of the late Klaas and Trintje (nee Vijn) Bos. John immigrated in 1950 at the age of twelve with his family soon after World War II  to Canada where the family settled on a farm near Chatham, Ontario. After only two years of school in Canada, John started helping on the farm and took on various other jobs. John met the love of his life, Coby in 1956 and they married in 1959. When he was about twenty years old, he started a construction company with his father-in-law that he ran for twenty years. Due to economic difficulties John and the family moved to Taber to make new beginnings and worked for T&K Cabinets for one year. He then ventured into a construction company with his son Clarence for the next thirty years until John’s health started to decline. John had a love for working with his hands, building and woodworking all types of different projects. 

 John struggled with leukemia for about four years and once that went into remission he developed Parkinson’s until his death. Every day became a struggle for John as his mobility diminished. Throughout the struggles, John always kept a positive attitude. Coby stayed faithfully by John’s side devotedly helping him. He was also a man of strong faith and relied on the Lord daily to be his strength and to help him through the day. He was always thankful for his caregivers around him, never wanting to be an inconvenience to anyone. John’s face would light up with visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was confident of the hope that a future glory awaited him in the life hereafter with Christ his Saviour and looked forward to that every single day, while making the most of the time he was here.
