AGNES APPLETON
1916 - 2009
Agnes Mary Appleton, beloved wife of the late Albert Appleton, passed away in Lethbridge on Monday, February 2, 2009 at the age of 92 years.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Roy) Spooner of Lethbridge; grandchildren Dianne (Peter) Rajcic and Tim (Christina) Spooner all of Lethbridge; great grandchildren Zachary and Zane Rajcic; Sarah, Kieran and Colin Spooner. Agnes is also survived by her sister Catherine (Rex) Brown; brother Jim (Geri) Rutherford; brother-in-law William Bellman; sisters-in-law Vivian Kinniburgh and Lois Appleton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Albert; parents Annie & David Kinniburgh; step-father George Rutherford; brothers Joseph (Nell) Kinniburgh and David Kinniburgh; sisters Jean (Henry) Mulner and Margaret Bellman; brother-in-law Robert Appleton.
Agnes was born April 20, 1916 in Purple Springs where she was raised and educated. Following her school years, Agnes worked as a cook on a sheep ranch. In 1938 she married Albert Appleton at St. Theodore’s Anglican church in Taber. In 1944 Agnes and Albert were blessed by the birth of their daughter Sharon. They lived on their farm just south of were Agnes grew up. Agnes was involved with Kinniburgh Women’s Institute for many years, in which she held many offices including secretary and treasurer.
She was also active in the Eastern Star, Rosalon Chapter in Taber. Agnes was proud of her garden where she grew raspberries, strawberries, many different types of vegetables and lots of flowers. In 1974 Agnes and Albert retired to Taber. Following Albert’s passing in 1992, Agnes moved to Lethbridge where she has resided until her passing.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, February 5, 2009 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church, 5120 - 44 Avenue, Taber on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Wil Stonehill officiating. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers in cottage two at the Good Samaritans Park Meadows Village as well as Doctor’s Cal and David Stewart and the rest of the staff of the Family Medical Clinic.
