Austin Jorgensen

1932 - 2018

Harry Austin Jorgensen, beloved husband of Edith Jorgensen, passed away in Coaldale on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the age of 86 years.

 The Burial Service was held at Mountain View Cemetery, 1210 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 2:00 P.M.

 Relatives and friends were invited to Celebrate Austin’s life at the Sandman Signature Hotel (Lethbridge Lodge), 320 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge on Friday, October 26, 2018 between 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.  

 Austin will be lovingly remembered by his wife Edith; children John (Marj) Jorgensen of Retlaw and their children Alyson (Andy) Harms, Bradley; Jan (Tom) Hudson of Lethbridge, Terry (Debbie) Jorgensen of Lethbridge, Kevin (Lea) Jorgensen of Turin and their children Samantha and Colin Jorgensen; Michele (Rick) Thompson of Calgary and their son Kayle. He will also be missed by his siblings Marie Walters, Goldi (Andy) Martin, Linda Goodman and Diane (Eric) Schmidt; brother-in-law Wayne Wahlquist. 

 He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Kirstine Jorgensen; sisters Virginia Jorgensen, Loretta Jorgensen, Erna Powell, Elsie Wahlquist and Olga Dawson; brothers-in-law Kurt Walters, Ray Goodman, Royal Powell and John Dawson.

 Austin was born to Anders Peter and Maren Kirstine Jorgensen on August 2, 1932 in Iron Springs. He married Edith Connor on July 24, 1953. Austin and Edith began raising their family of five shortly there after. They took over the family farm in 1963 until 2011. They sold the farm at that time, but the sale included the opportunity to continue to live there enjoying their big garden and watching the changes that evolved in the homestead. In 2017, they moved to Coaldale. Austin loved spending time with his family and enjoyed farming, fishing, wood working, carving and gardening.
