Ruth will be dearly missed by her children Brian (Michelle) Holthe of Taber and their sons Brett (Rachel), Mark, Ty and Chase; Leroy (Val) Holthe of Taber and their children Tanner and Lindy; Connie (Dan) Kilborn of High River and their daughter Kelsey (Chris); daughter-in-law Sheryl Holthe “Gramma Root” was adored by her great grandchildren Emily, Ryder, Rylee and Frankie.

She was predeceased by her husband Norman Holthe; son Ron Holthe; parents Albert and Elizabeth Treece; sisters Daisy (Elwood) Nevil and Jessie Jensen.

Ruth was born at Purple Springs, daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Treece. When Ruth was a few days old her mother passed away. She was raised for the first three years by her aunt and uncle Pete and Nellie Engleson. At the age of three she went to live with her dad and two sisters, Daisy and Jessie.

All her schooling was taken at the Purple Springs School. She went out to work for families at an early age. While working she met and married Norman Holthe in 1942. After spending a year in Vancouver and working here and there, they settled on a farm near Taber. She worked at the Cannery, Sparky’s Dairy Bar and Taber Cleaners all the while raising her family and working on the farm.

Ruth loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. In her later years she loved playing cards, reading, doing puzzles and was still bowling. She was especially proud of renewing her driver’s licence that would allow her to drive to the age of 100. Ruth was devout and loved worshiping with her church family. She practiced diligently and could name all sixty six books of the bible from memory.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Ruth’s name may be made directly to the Taber Church of Christ, 5303 - 50 Street, Taber, Alberta T1G 1M2.
