Johnny was born in Domnau, Bartenstein, East Prussia on December 26, 1936, the third son of Erich and Minna Beyer. His tight-knit family survived the horrors of WWII. After moving to Kochendorf, he was employed in an aluminum factory and enjoyed participating in acrobatic competitions. He immigrated to Canada with his parents and siblings, arriving in February 1955 in Halifax. They spent their first winter in Regina before continuing on to Coaldale where Johnny met and married the love of his life, Faye Boorse in 1960. They purchased their farm in Grassy Lake that year as well and raised their children, Valerie and Danny there. Johnny was actively involved in Beyer Hay and the farm operations until his passing.
Johnny had a passion for the land and farming. He appreciated all the goodness, love, laughter and friendships with which he was blessed. He journeyed through the unpredictability of cancer with incredible dignity, a strong resolve, and confidence in his faith.
