Arny Holcek

1956 - 2018

Arnold Roy Holcek, passed away unexpectedly in Taber on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the age of 61 years.

 Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, May 3, 2018 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

 The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden. 

 Arny is survived by his children Kim Holcek, Brad (April) Holcek, Liam Holcek, Alexzan Holcek and Macie Holcek all of Taber; grandchildren Logan, Emma and Cage. He is also survived by his siblings Helen Balaz, Lorraine (Tony) Birch, Marcey (Bill) Miller, Ronald (Jessica) Holcek and Janice Spence; sister-in-law Barb Holcek as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 He was predeceased by his son Ryan, parents Joseph and Mary Holcek; brother Jim Holcek and brother-in-law Michael Balaz.

 Arny was born in Lethbridge on May 20, 1956. Along with his two brothers and four sisters, he was raised in Picture Butte. Shortly after high school he started working at the Canadian Sugar Factory in Picture Butte, which eventually brought him to Taber in 1978 to work at the Rogers Sugar Factory. He worked his way up the ranks until he was offered an Instrumentation Technician Apprenticeship in 1991. He made many friends and memories and enjoyed showing off his cooking skills to those he worked with. Arny retired in 2017 after forty one years of hard work.

 In 2017, Arny followed his love and passion for food and started a Food Truck/Catering Service. He quickly realized how much he loved making people happy by the food he cooked and became very popular within the Taber Community. So much so, that he also added cooking at the Taber Ice Arena, where even more people got to know Arny's sense of humor and delicious food.

 His children and grandchildren were the loves of his life and he was proud of each and every one of them.

 It came as a shock to everyone when he passed away unexpectedly the morning of April 30, 2018. He was a passionate, funny and kind man who will be greatly missed in our community.
