1984 - 2017

It is with deep sadness that the family of Melissa Catherine Hoard, announce her unexpected passing in Taber on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the age of 33 years.

The Funeral Service was held at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. The Burial Service was held at the Vauxhall Cemetery at 2:30 P.M.

Melissa will be lovingly remembered by her parents Garry and Maria Hoard of Calgary; sister Nicci (Clay) Baier of Taber and their family Lexi, Josh and Leah; brother Trevor Hoard of Calgary. She is also survived by her grandmother Ruby Hoard of Calgary; aunt Bev (Roi) Stokes of Fort McMurray; uncles Fran (Laurie) Jansen of Taber, Pete (Chantal) Jansen of Crescent Valley, British Columbia, Rod Unruh of Vauxhall and by numerous cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Tony and Kay Jansen and Robert Hoard; aunt Deeny Unruh; uncles Robert Jansen and Adrian Jansen; cousins Anthony Unruh and Shauna Stokes.

Melissa was born in Lethbridge on March 5, 1984. In 1987, the family moved to Calgary where she received her education and later obtained a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Mount Royal University in 2007. In 2008, she moved to Taber where she has resided until her passing.

Melissa enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it was camping, fishing or just spending time together. She also enjoyed crocheting, which she excelled at and made beautiful items. She also had a love for sketching. In the last couple of years, Melissa enjoyed spending time with her furbaby Athena “Baboo”.
